Dear Good Friends,

"This is the day that the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." (Psalm 118:24)

On Thursday we sent you an email relative to the re-launching of Evangel Temple tomorrow, July 5, 2020. This is certainly greeted with mixed emotions - (1) much happiness that, at least, we are progressing slowly and cautiously; (2) a little trepidation since many restrictions are still in effect; (3) sadly, we will not be anywhere near full capacity with the physical distancing; (4) lonely for those who we haven't seen in a long time and, probably, will not see for a little while yet.

Since many of our congregation will not be attending tomorrow, it seems good to send along emails like this for information purposes and to keep everyone in the loop. Please understand that we fully appreciate and respect your personal decision not to attend church at this time for whatever reason. We simply invite you to come along when you are ready.

ONLINE CHURCH - Please note that we still have not yet received the necessary equipment and upgrades to live stream our Sunday morning services. This Sunday, July 5 the service will be recorded and will be available on YouTube sometime in the afternoon (it's hard to give an exact time so please keep checking :)). Andrew will do a little editing and you can access it by visiting Evangel's website at www.evangelnapanee.com<http://www.evangelnapanee.com> and follow the link.

It is anticipated that we will have more information next week and will keep you posted. Again, we are grateful for your patience.

KIDS' SUNDAY SCHOOL & VBS - Please note that Kids' Sunday School continues to be recorded. In addition, VBS gets started on Monday, July 6 and goes to July 10. Tanya and her team have done an incredible amount of work to provide this ministry...many, many hours/days of planning and recording!  We are so deeply grateful for such outstanding commitment to kids' ministry! Thank you! Thank You! Thank you!

2020 GRADUATES - It is a privilege to honour our 2020 graduates this year. Tomorrow morning we will recognize their outstanding accomplishments. Just to let you know who they are: Kayla Russell (Laurentian University), Jonathan White (Queen's University), Adrianna Brak (NDSS), Clayton Stacey (elementary school) and Emma Zwiers (elementary school).  Please pray for these students and, for that matter, all of our students, for God's richest blessings on their lives.
PRAYER NEEDS - There are many needs for which to pray: a young man facing surgery, Rose-Marie (surgery soon), Tim, Lori , Laura, Olivia, our youth, our seniors who are shut-in, Pat, Franz, Bonnie (in the hospital), Angela, Shawn (seeking employment), Ken's niece, Robbie (taking treatments), Allan (taking treatments), Elizabeth, Linda (physical and spiritual needs), Matthew, David, Rebecca, Paige (15 years of age), businesses and business people, new pastor, unspoken needs, online church, Kids Sunday School and VBS (coming July 6 - 10). There may be others that we should add to this list. Please let us know if that is the case and we will gladly include them.  Be sure to send an email or telephone us should you have a need. You may reach us at office@evangelnapanee.com<mailto:office@evangelnapanee.com> or 613-354-4281. There are lots of prayer needs and they all include both the spiritual and physical!

PASTORAL SEARCH - A CHAT Retreat is being planned for Friday and Saturday, July 17 - 18. Our rationale in moving ahead with this is the unknown future. None of us know if we just have a "window of opportunity" at the moment so we "are making hay while the sun shines"...how's that for clichés??!! This is a necessary step before we begin reviewing resumes. Following this retreat with Evangel's leadership the Pulpit Search Committee will meet and make good progress in this very important journey. Please pray that we will be able to move ahead unimpeded.
ZOOM PRAYER MEETING - Each  Monday at 6:30 p.m. we host a ZOOM prayer meeting. We look forward to seeing you online. The link to join us will be sent in plenty of time for you to join.

BIBLE READING - The Bible reading assignment for the month of July is found in the Old Testament "Minor Prophets."  When the phrase "Minor Prophets" is used it is not to identify their message as being "minor" but, rather, the length of their prophecies are short in comparison to others who are referred as "Major Prophets" like Isaiah or Jeremiah. The following is a total of 32 chapters...one extra for July: Hosea, Joel, Amos, Obadiah, Jonah and Micah. The challenge is to read at least 1 chapter per day. I encourage you to linger on various portions of Scripture that seems to speak to you. Consider how it may apply to your personal life. Hopefully you are taking the time to spend in the word of God. This spiritual discipline will certainly strengthen you in your daily walk with God.

SUMMER MUSIC - Deseronto Pentecostal Church (Pastor Dan Rooney) will be hosting summer gospel singing concerts in our parking lot beginning on Sunday, July 5, 2020 @ 6:30 p.m. and concluding the last Sunday in August. You are invited to come along each time and enjoy. The first concert will feature The Proverbs.

CONGRATULATIONS - Congratulations to Nathan and Amanda Mutch on the arrival of a brand new, precious little boy in the person of Emerson Nathan born on Monday, June 22, 2020. Congratulations to both sets of grandparents as well - Kevin & Pam Mutch and Wendell & Connie Goodsell.  You will certainly enjoy this amazing gift from God!

ADMINISTRATION - Office hours are now back to the regular schedule: Monday to Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. We will soon have a current update of how tithes and offerings are tracking. Thank you again and again for your diligence in these testing times!

PRAYER FOR OUR NATION AND BEYOND - The following link is a good definition of racism. Source: Ligon Duncan, Chancellor, Reformed Theological Seminary. Please follow the link and continue to pray for unity in our world. The Message paraphrase of the Bible offer great words of wisdom for us in Romans 12: 17-19: "Don't hit back; discover beauty in everyone. If you've got it in you, get along with everybody. Don't insist on getting even; that's not for you to do. 'I'll do the judging,' says God. 'I'll take care of it.'"

ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETING - The annual business meeting is scheduled for Sunday, July 12, 2020  . It is anticipated that in the last 15 minutes of the 1-hour service we will resolve into the AGM. As mentioned before, the bulk of the meeting will be to accept the 2019 financial statements, reports and elect church board members. Please mark this date in your calendar and thank you for giving it your attention.

Be blessed good Friends! We look forward to seeing some of you tomorrow and others as time goes by. Continue to pray and stay close to God in these trying times - very trying times, aren't they! We are praying for you!

Cal Anthony (Rev.)
