December 1, 2020
Hello Dear Friends,
Warmest Christian greetings!
PRAYERS FOR YOU – This past Sunday the focus was specifically on our young men and women. The
prayer for each of them is that they would “Remember their (your) Creator in the days of their (your)
youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when they (you) will say, ‘I find no
pleasure in them“ – (Ecclesiastes 12:1). Recently it seems the Lord has been directing my focus to our
young people…they have much with which to contend in such days as these – troublesome days and so
much uncertainty. Would you pray with me that the Lord will protect them? Let’s encourage them every
opportunity we get and go a step further and seek them out just to make contact and express
appreciation for/to them. Thank you for doing that!
SUNDAY SERVICE & ONLINE CHURCH – We are thankful for each Sunday – it’s a day of praise, worship,
missions reports and more! We are so happy for those who join us on YouTube each week. Here is the
link: www.evangelnapanee.com  We continue to keep the services to about the 1-hour limit and will do
so for the foreseeable future. Let’s pray that the Lord’s presence and blessings will be evident amongst
us whether we are physically at church or tuning in at home. We encourage you to join us at the church
each Sunday when you feel comfortable doing so. Of course, if at any time you do not feel well, it is wise
to stay at home and take good care of yourself. We certainly miss you, though!!
KIDS’ MINISTRY – We are excited that Kids’ Ministry continues at Evangel  Please see our website
kids@evangelnapanee.com for more information. Play Group happens every 2nd Friday @ 10:00 a.m.
This is an excellent opportunity to connect with parents and children from our community and beyond.
We’re always grateful to Tanya and her team who minister so capably to the little ones! In addition to
that there are video productions especially friendly to our amazing children.
On Sunday, December 13 there will be a special children’s presentation as we celebrate the birth of
Jesus. This will be a very special time and we anticipate a great day together!
FAMILY AND FRIEND DAY – On Sunday, December 20 we anticipate a great day together! We
encourage you to bring along family members and friends to worship with us in the morning service. The
message that morning will be “Redeeming the Broken” – that is precisely why Jesus came into the
world! I know there are probably those who are not yet comfortable in attending public gatherings so
we exert no pressure. Our sanctuary can seat close to 200 people even with the distancing factor. Our
hostesses and hosts are very efficient in caring for everyone and they will certainly ensure that all are
safe and comfortable. Please be praying about this day and specifically who the Lord is leading you to
invite. Sunday morning attendance is currently around the 90 mark and has gone as high as 108. We are
confident that we can accommodate many more and do so safely. Of course, we advise folk to not
attend if they have “flu-like” symptoms or are not feeling well otherwise.
COMMUNION – Next Sunday, December 6 we will celebrate the Lord’s Supper together. We invite all
who watch via YouTube to join us as we celebrate “around the table of the Lord.” Please make sure you

have bread and juice ready so you can partake of the emblems of the Lord’s broken body with us.
Always such a special time, isn’t it?
2021 CONTRIBUTION ENVELOPES – Next Sunday, December 6 the 2021 contribution envelopes will be
available. It is always a bit of a challenges these days in trying to figure out the logistics of handing out
various items so as not to impede the free flow of entering and exiting the church facility. Anyway, we
will figure it out!
YOUTH – Please note that 180º Youth meeting will be Thursday, December 4 @ 6:30 p.m. Every 3 rd
week our Youth meet together at the church. We so appreciate your prayers for our young women and
men plus those who are giving leadership in such challenging times. Nathan, Landon, Shawna and Carol
are faithfully ministering.
PRAYER MEETING – You are invited to join us at the church each Monday @ 6:30 p.m. for our prayer
meeting! These are very encouraging meetings as we gather at the church to pray together. There are so
many needs and our world is in such turmoil! Times of prayer bring such a sense of the Lord’s presence
and encouragement. We sure hope you can join us for an hour or so. Besides all the prayer requests that
we list each week plus your personal prayer list, please see the Missions prayer focus below.
“WITH THE LORD” – On Friday, November 27, 2020 Louise Henderson went to be with the Lord. She was
a wonderful, godly lady with an amazing testimony of serving the Lord for many decades! Please
remember Sandra, Connie, Roxanne, grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family in your
prayers. There will be visitation at Hannah’s Funeral Home on Saturday, December 5, 2020 @ 10:00
a.m. Following the visitation there will be a Memorial Service @ 11:0 a.m. Should you wish to attend
the memorial service it is necessary to register with Hannah’s at 613-354-3341. It is necessary to pre-
register for this since only a maximum of 50 people are permitted due to the virus restrictions.
PRAYER NEEDS – There are many needs for which to pray: The Henderson family (bereavement), Ralph
(as he continues to recover and improve following surgery), Marie (bereavement), Tim, Laura, Olivia, our
youth and leaders, our seniors who are shut-in, Pat, Bonnie, Angela, John, Shawn (seeking employment),
Robbie (taking treatments), Andrea, unspoken need(s), Allan, Elizabeth, Linda , Bill, a husband needing
the Lord and a physical healing, Paige (15 years of age), Marg, Sharon, Stewart’s granddaughter,
businesses and business people, new pastor, unspoken needs, live-streamed church service, Kids’
Sunday School/Ministry, Global Workers. There may be others that we should add to this list. Please let
us know if that is the case and we will gladly include them. You may reach us at
office@evangelnapanee.com or 613-354-4281. There are lots of prayer needs and they all include both
the spiritual and physical!
URGENT PRAYER NEED – Please pray for the family of one of our Global Workers, Jade Kenyamanyara,
who lives in Tanzania. Jade went to be with the Lord earlier today, leaving her husband, Julius, and 3
small children. She was 32 years of age. Your prayers are deeply appreciated.
PASTORAL SEARCH – The Pastoral Search Committee and all of us continue to pray during these days of
“reset.” Resumes will be received for the Lead Pastor position from January 4, 2021 until Sunday,
January 31, 2021. We continue to work closely with our Eastern Ontario & Nunavut District as we seek
the continual direction of the Lord. June and I will remain as your interim pastors.  Thank you for your
partnership in praying as we look forward to great days ahead for Evangel Temple. This journey has
taken much longer than anticipated and we certainly appreciate your understanding and patience.

Without tying ourselves to a specific date, I think it is realistic to say that by mid-March 2021, a new
pastor should be in place. This is such a very significant task as we find the will of God.
BIBLE READING – The challenge for Bible reading for the months of November and December is
Jeremiah and Lamentations (of Jeremiah)! This is deep reading but so good to be engaged in the
Scriptures. Take the time daily to spend in God’s word. It will strengthen you immensely and bring much
comfort as you meditate on the Scriptures. It is good for us to remember this verse: “Let the word of
Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom…” (Colossians 3:16). Some have expressed how the Old
Testament scriptures are speaking deeply to them!
ADMINISTRATION – By now most of you have received the updated copy of the Local Church
Constitution. Your Church Board and our Eastern Ontario & Nunavut District have approved the
document and now it is ready for your approval. Be sure to get your copy if you have not already done
so. They are available in the church foyer. Please read the letter enclosed in the packet. Contact me
should you have any questions, comments or amendments – your participation is welcomed. Included in
the constitution booklet is our Statement of Fundamental and Essential Truths. For those who are not
yet comfortable in physically attending church, a copy will be mailed or hand-delivered to your home. It
is anticipated that a business meeting will be held soon to receive it. Be watching for the
announcement.
The new shed is here!!!  Wow!! This is a major step forward in answer to
storage challenges. What a lovely shed it is and very spacious! We are
grateful to Better Way Sheds, Foxboro and
Jesse Macdonald (owner) for their excellent
craftmanship
and professional work! Thank you again for
your generosity in giving financially towards
this need. The extra seating space in the
overflow sections will be pleasant and
comfortable once all the appropriate items
are transferred. Please note that

convenient space will be found in the church building for items that are
needed on an on-going basis. Only seasonable items and those that are
used periodically will be stored in the shed. We certainly welcome
everyone’s input regarding that. The
Shed will be organized in such a way that there will be easy access to all contents. We are very happy
that Cornerstone Christian Academy will make good use of the old shed. All refurbishing will be
completed in the Spring of 2021. We are all winners!!!
MISSIONS – I am very excited to let you know that my goal of $25K is realized!!! Thank the Lord for His
provisions! This past week there have been at least 3 different miracles with enough donations to make
it to the top. As you know, a portion of this fund-raiser goes towards our personal budget (expenses
only) but the bulk, in this case, goes to then project itself. And with that in mind, I am very happy to say
that enough resources have been pledged over and above the $25K to make this a reality! This is
another miracle!! Thank you, Jesus!! Raul, Lily and their Team in northern Spain will be absolutely
delighted with the use of a 9-passenger vehicle for outreach and church planting ministry in the Galicia
Region. We will keep you posted when the vehicle is purchased. Actually, that would be a great time to
connect with the Carrasco’s for a ZOOM update. Be watching in the weeks ahead – take a while to do all

the logistics! Your very significant generosity made this possible! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I
sincerely hope a team from Evangel can go there a few other places in Europe someday. Let’s pray about
that.
CHRISTMAS IS COMING!!! – The Christmas Advent for 2020 begins on Sunday, November 29 and ends
on December 24. These are days for reflection as we think of the 1 st coming of Jesus into the world.
Listen to the Scripture: “Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came
into the world to save sinners…”  (I Timothy 1:15) Over these next 3 weeks or so, let us take time to
meditate upon God’s great gift to us in the Person of Jesus Christ. This is the ultimate expression of
love…He came to die in our place: “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s
friends.” (John 15:13) That is the essence of the Gospel! As you prepare for Christmas this year, we pray
that you will be very conscious of the presence of Jesus every day. His 1 ST coming is celebrated and His
2 ND coming is greatly anticipated! Perhaps you have a family custom to observe the advent calendar and
enjoy a chocolate treat each day. If so, enjoy! In the midst of all that is happening around us, let’s ensure
that we keep Jesus as the focal point of our celebrations!
CANADA
Pray for a Mission Canada worker who lives out radical hospitality among those in the
Commercial Drive community of East Vancouver, B.C. The missional focus of their intentional
Christian community home is to embody the gospel through shared life experiences with
people of all ages and cultural backgrounds. Building a web of care in this eight-by-five block
urban village helps the good news of Jesus to be lived out in unique and practical ways. Pray for
Christians to move into Canada’s cities and neighbourhoods to reach many more with the
message of Jesus, while living in a localized and integrated manner. Pray also for believers to
see housing opportunities and care as integral to the gospel.
EVANGEL’S MISSIONARIES/GLOBAL WORKERS GWs
Your prayers for our GWs are critical. Some of them are experiencing very challenging times with the
reality of reduced financial support re COVID- 19. Thank you for taking the time to include them in your
daily prayer times and for your faithful giving. Evangel has not had to cut back on financial support of
our Missionaries and, for that, we are truly grateful to the Lord and to you! This is faithfulness in action!
Please continue to remember Travis & Jesse (RAN), Dan & Belinda Collado (ABA, Canada), Jarren &
Cindie Hildebrandt (Thailand), Kingston Pregnancy Care Centre (Elizabeth Sacrey), Scott & Melissa
Williams (Spain), Janette Tirado (Peru), Laura Benson (Uganda), Deborah Sirjoosingh (Kenya), Cal & June
Anthony (Eurasia) and Raul & Lily Carrasco (Spain). Everyone needs prayer and everyone deeply
appreciates it!
We continue to pray the same prayers for you this week as described above and in these Scriptures:
“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in
Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7) and “The God of peace be with you all.” (Romans 15:33).
Stay close to God!
Cal & June
