January 16, 2021 Hello Dear Friends,                                                                      Warmest Christian greetings! PRAYER FOR YOU – The prayer for our Evangel Temple church family this week is… Peace of mind during your waking hours – think on good memories, especially before you go to sleep. This actually works on your body to produce healthy brain cells!Good restful nights as you sleep – keep you Bible on your night stand so as to be reminded that our foundation is on the powerful word of God.Good health for your body.Strength for the daily tasks.A sense of comfort – depend on the Holy Spirit (the Comforter) to continue to encourage you with that sense of well-being and take away any sense of loneliness or fear. That you will pray “The Lord’s Prayer” several times a day. The above prayer points are mentioned in my previous email and continue to be how June and I pray for you. Unity in spirit is an amazing strength and it certainly comes from concerted prayer. Even though we are not meeting in person, the power of this transcends the physical gathering and supernaturally makes us “one in spirit”. Let’s pray fervently! SUNDAY SERVICE/ONLINE CHURCH – Each Sunday @ 10:00 a.m. is the day and the hour when online church begins on YouTube. We anticipate being back in the church facility on Sunday, February 15, 2021. We pray the restrictions will not be extended beyond then for places of worship. We will keep you posted for sure! Please plan to join us each week online should you have the electronic capability to do so. Here is the link: www.evangelnapanee.com “WITH THE LORD” – On Thursday, January 14, 2021 Joan Clement went to be with Jesus. Please pray for Richard, Nathan, Morgan, Harold and Linda plus other family members during this time of bereavement. There will be a private funeral service at Wartman’s on Monday, January 18, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Due to gathering restrictions only 10 people are permitted. It is anticipated that a public memorial service will be held at a later date. We extend our deepest condolences, prayers and love to the Clement family. SPECIAL GUEST NEXT SUNDAY – We are pleased to announce that next Sunday, January 24, 2021 Rev. Chuck Price will be our guest. Of course, there will not be an in-person service but you will be blessed as he speaks on our YouTube presentation – you won’t want to miss this! Rev. Chuck’s ministry “Reapers in the Rain” has been such a blessing in Canada and overseas, specifically in the West Indies. Of course, travel outside Canada has not been possible for almost a year now. This has had significant impact but, we pray, that will change soon. To bless Rev. Chuck and his wife, Trish, let’s do something special for them! June and I will give a special offering for Reapers in the Rain…will you join us as well? Thank you for prayerfully considering a generous offering. You may identify your donation on the envelope as “the Prices” or Reapers in the Rain.” This is so appreciated and thanks again! THE FOLLOWING MINISTRIES WILL RESUME AS SOON AS RESTRICTIONS ARE LIFTED: KIDS’ MINISTRY & PLAYGROUP – Please visit our website www.evangelnapanee.com for current information regarding children’s ministries.180º YOUTH –Thank you for continuing to pray for our young men and women. Hopefully, this will begin at the church on Monday, February 15, 2021.SMALL GROUPS – Thank you, Group Leaders, for contacting me. Study materials for some of the groups (those who contacted me with your suggestions) for the new season have been received and will be distributed as soon as the Small Group ministry begins. The groups will meet at the church until the folks are comfortable meeting in homes again. Of course, we respect your comfort level as to your decision to attend or not. If you have any prayer needs please email me at Cal.Anthony@paoc.org or telephone me at 613-354-4281 or 613-243-1163. There are lots of prayer needs and they all include both the spiritual and physical! PASTORAL SEARCH – The next meeting is set for Wednesday, February 3, 2021 @ 6:30 p.m. with the Committee. Resumes will be distributed and prayerfully/carefully reviewed. A subsequent meeting is planned for Monday, February 8, 2021. In this meeting the resumes will be discussed more thoroughly and decisions will be made to move into the interview phase. We will certainly keep you posted along the way. Your prayers are critical during this time and we are counting on you to pray daily! Thank you for doing this. It is reasonable that the new Lead Pastor should be in place by mid to late March 2021. BIBLE READING – What did you discover in your reading this week? It is amazing how the Lord brings a specific verse of Scripture or truth at certain points in our daily lives! We hope your daily Bible reading is bringing you much comfort. By now you are moving nicely through John’s Gospel. Coupled with the 10 chapters of I and II Timothy, these selections makes up the 31 days of January! I pray these Scripture readings are ministering strength to you each day. Remember to…“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom…” (Colossians 3:16). ADMINISTRATION & OTHER MINISTRY OFFICE HOURS – The office hours are reduced during the present lockdown but you can drop by either Tuesday or Thursday – 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon. Thank you for your patience and cooperation. Should you need anything specifically, please contact me directly through email or cell phone (contact info is on our weekly emails).OFFICE & ACCOUNTING PERSONNEL – During this time of transition (well more than a year now) the office and accounting have been served contractually by Shawna and Kathryn. Shawna’s contract concluded at the end of November and Kathryn’s will conclude in a few days. It was necessary to extend Kathryn’s contract to keep continuity with year-end accounting and the financial engagement review for 2020. We sincerely thank Shawna and Kathryn for their faithfulness and commitment over these many months. At Christmas time we were able to give them a little token of our appreciation in recognition of their service. Rather than continuing with 2 separate contracts for the office and accounting, it was agreed to merge both positions into one – Receptionist/Bookkeeper. An announcement will be forthcoming soon regarding this.  RENOVATIONS/UPGRADES/NEW CHAIRS  Work is scheduled to begin next week with the electrical and drywall in the overflow sections. New flooring will also be laid in the ‘east’ overflow area. These will be huge, much-needed upgrades and will look amazing! We are considering painting the ceiling and walls in the sanctuary. All of these areas need a ”fresh” look and your Church Board is wisely focusing on the priorities as it relates to the renovations. Of course, this costs money!!! Please be assured that your Church Board will carefully and wisely manage our navigation through this work. ALL work so far has been completely paid!!!Thank you for joining with June and me in providing at least 1 new chair re your generous donation of $100.00. Should you wish to add the extra to your weekly giving, simply mark your envelope accordingly re “New Chairs/Upgrades”. This is a great blessing. Word has been received that the chairs will be shipped on January 22, 2021.2020 FINANCIAL STATEMENTS, 2021 BUDGET & ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING – The 2020 financial review engagement will be conducted over the next few weeks. This, plus the 2021 budget, will be presented to you in due time. The Annual General Meeting will be announced at a later date. 2021 will bring new pastoral staff and the operational/ministry at Evangel will be at “full steam”! I am praying that there will be more than enough financial resources…not simply making ends meet but “…immeasurably more than we could ask or imagine…”! (Ephesians 3:20). Thank you for praying with me!YOUR 2020 DONATIONS & CURRENT GIVINGA letter has been included with your charitable receipt. It gives a little overview of our 2020 financial position and we have much for which to thank God…and you!!! Many receipts have been picked up at the Church; opportunity will be given for a few more days and, after that, the remaining receipts will be sent via regular postal service.Sadly, we are currently locked down until at least February 11, 2021. We were hoping that this extension would not happen but there is no surprise.Your faithfulness is so very deeply appreciated in consistent giving. You may come by the church and use the offering boxes or debit machine. They are accessible during the time frames noted above.Online giving is very convenient and we encourage you to consider this option should you have the electronic capability.VERY IMPORTANT!!! WE ARE INCLUDING THIS ANNOUNCEMENT JUST 1 MORE TIME!!! If you come by the church and use the debit machine, please ensure that you complete an envelope and place one copy of your transaction in it. If an envelope is not completed there is no way to give you credit for your donation. As you know, an electronic transfer is not the same as a debit transaction. An electronic transfer is easily recognized with the necessary personal information whereas a debit machine transaction cannot be traced to an individual. Thank you for giving this your attention. We want to serve you as best we can but it is imperative that we have tithe/offering donations clearly identified. This makes our auditors happy, too!! EVANGEL TEMPLE CHURCH FAMILY – May I encourage you to be sensitive to the Lord’s leading in reaching out to others in our church family? Perhaps you can call a person or two and share some words of encouragement with a prayer. Just a simple phone conversation/visit will go a long way in making someone’s day very special! The prayer above from I Thessalonians 5 admonishes us to do that. If you can’t reach the person, leave a message or write a card and put it in the mail. This will mean a great deal to any individual or family! Of course, we can go beyond our immediate church family and reach out to others to whom the Lord may direct us. If you are already doing this, thank you so much! If not, now would be a good time to start! EVANGEL’S MISSIONARIES/GLOBAL WORKERS GWs Your prayers for our GWs are critical. Some of them are experiencing very challenging times with the reality of reduced financial support re COVID- 19.Thank you for taking the time to include them in your daily prayer times and for your faithful giving. Evangel has not had to cut back on financial support of our Missionaries and, for that, we are truly grateful to the Lord and to you! This is faithfulness in action! Please continue to remember Travis & Jesse (RAN), Dan & Belinda Collado (ABA, Canada), Jarren & Cindie Hildebrandt (Thailand), Kingston Pregnancy Care Centre (Elizabeth Sacrey), Julia Mills Scott & Melissa Williams (Spain), Janette Tirado (Peru), Laura Benson (Uganda), Deborah Sirjoosingh (Kenya), Cal & June Anthony (Eurasia), Raul & Lily Carrasco (Spain) and Morning Star Mission. Everyone needs prayer and everyone deeply appreciates it! During 2021 let us continue to be sensitive to the many needs locally, nationally and globally. Perhaps all of us can increase our financial giving to Missions and outreach in the days ahead! Janette Tirado has returned to Peru and will re-engage in ministry there. More updates to come. We continue to pray the same prayers for you this week as described above and in these Scriptures: “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7) and “The God of peace be with you all.” (Romans 15:33). Stay close to God and keep the faith! Cal & June
