September 10, 2020

Hello Dear Friends,

Warmest Christian greetings!

This old song is powerful in its description of God’s indescribable love: “The love of God is greater far than tongue or pen can ever tell. It goes beyond the highest star and reaches to the lowest hell…” That is the love expressed in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son…” Our prayer for you these days is that you will constantly be aware of the Lord’s presence and be encouraged as the Scriptures strengthen you.

SUNDAY SERVICE @ 10:00 A.M.– Each Sunday is a new opportunity to be together either at the church facility or virtually through YouTube. Restrictions have certainly interrupted church life but it has opened other doors of ministry. Jesus is building His church and nothing can stop that! We appreciate Rev. Dan Collado sharing the word of God while we are away. June and I anticipate being with you on September 13..

COMMUNION – Sunday, September 13, will be a day of celebrating communion together. This is always a very special time as we worship together. Let’s pray that the Lord will minister divine healing to those who are sick and suffering. If you are attending virtually, please plan to participate with us.

ONLINE CHURCH –Live-streamed services continue and it is a blessing to those who cannot physically attend church. Please pray for maximum impact in the days ahead. Again, we remind you that the services will be available at any time following the live-stream should you miss the 10:00 a.m. timeslot.   Please check our website for the link: www.evangelnapanee.com  and also share it with friends who may be encouraged by it.

KIDS’ SUNDAY SCHOOL – Kids’ Ministry continues at Evangel with Tanya and her team doing a fabulous job! Plans are being laid as the fall season approaches. Keep tuned for details as ministry to the children moves forward. We are deeply grateful for talented workers who take such an excellent creative approach to touching these young lives during their spiritually formative years.

PRAYER NEEDS – There are many needs for which to pray: Rose-Marie (surgery soon), Tim, Laura, Olivia, our youth, our seniors who are shut-in, Pat, Bonnie (awaiting admission to a care home), Angela, Shawn (seeking employment), Ken’s niece, Robbie (taking treatments), Allan (taking treatments), Elizabeth, Linda (physical and spiritual needs), Matthew, David, Rebecca, a husband needing the Lord and a physical healing, Paige (15 years of age), Michelle & Caleb (recovering from COVID), Marg, Christl, Rosalie and family, Sharon, the Simpson family, Stewart’s granddaughter (MacKenzie), businesses and business people, new pastor, unspoken needs, live-streamed church service, Kids’ Sunday School, Global Workers. There may be others that we should add to this list. Please let us know if that is the case and we will gladly include them. You may reach us at office@evangelnapanee.com or 613-354-4281. There are lots of prayer needs and they all include both the spiritual and physical!

PASTORAL SEARCH – The Pastoral Search Committee will meet soon and move to the interview phase of our journey. Thank you for your continued prayers at this critical time. We believe the Lord will give us direction. Your partnership in praying is essential and vital.

ZOOM PRAYER MEETING – It is anticipated that ZOOM prayer meetings will resume very shortly. Please stay tuned for an announcement in the next few days.

BIBLE READING – For the month of September the suggested daily Bible reading are the books of Joshua and Ruth in the Old Testament and the letters to Philemon and Jude in the New Testament – that’s 30 chapters in all. Be encouraged to read at least 1 chapter per day for the entire month. You will be blessed and strengthened as you read and meditate on the word of God. It is good for us to remember this verse: “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom…” (Col 3:16)

ADMINISTRATION – Thank you for your faithfulness in tithes and offerings. Your tangible support is deeply appreciated. Thank you for being consistent in giving of the resources that God has given you. The present crisis have affected us marginally but we continue to loom to God for His provisions. We encourage you to help us with the new shed – material needs are always a part of ministry for any church. Obviously, there is no eternal value in things but on this side of heaven we deal with temporal needs. Simply identify “new shed” on your church giving envelope. Thank you!

MISSIONS Wednesday, September 2, 2020 was the day for the 100 km. trek! My 3rd annual missions bike-a-thon was completed! It was great to travel on the Harvest Moon Trailway with my son, Jonathan, and June’s brother, David. The picture on the left was taken just as we started the ride. On the right is where the ride terminated at Grand-Pré, Nova Scotia near the Bay of Fundy. No…we didn’t end up in the bay!!! J This year the route was a bit more challenging since most of it was on a gravel surface. However, the picturesque scenery more than made up for that! The picture below is immediately following our arrival home…not looking any worse for wear!!! J   My Regional Director for Eurasia, Rev. Steve Hertzog and his wife Patti, were joined by 3 other couples in Edmonton and did a 50 km. solidarity ride on Saturday, August 29. We are deeply grateful for their support!   As mentioned earlier, the project this year is to raise funds for Raul and Lily Carrasco to purchase a 9-passenger van for ministry use. This ministry vehicle is essential to local and regional outreach. Many of the folk do not have transportation and city transport does not often cooperate. The region has hundreds of communities (more than 700) scattered throughout the countryside – a vehicle like this is certainly a necessity and will be a welcomed blessing.   Many, many thanks to those who have already contributed to this project. The cost in Canadian dollars is approximately $25,000.00. This is a fairly aggressive goal but we are praying that many will partner with us over these next few weeks. We can be a HUGE blessing to this amazing couple and the work of God in such a challenging region (Galicia, Spain). The Carrascos are very thankful and excited if we can provide this essential ministry tool.   Raul and Lily continue to minster in Carballo, Spain in the province of A Coruña. The call of God upon their lives for this region is very evident. June and I had the privilege of visiting them on 2 separate occasions and see the ministry first hand. They are extremely dedicated to fulfilling God’s call on their lives. Please pray for them, their congregation and the whole area – pray for many to come to know Christ!   There are 2 options to donate and both are tax deductible:   (1)    Online at https://paoc.org/donate/CalAnthony Be sure to mention “Bike-A-Thon” in the “Donation Instructions” box. This will be processed by the PAOC. (2)    Place an offering at Evangel Temple clearly marked “Missions: Bike-A-Thon.” This option will be processed by Evangel.   Please note that the bike-a-thon proceeds each year are divided 50/50 between the project and our PAOC expenses. This is a once-a-year “fund-raiser” that keeps June and me on the road! Your participation is deeply appreciated. Thank you so much for your kind consideration and doing your very best! We value your prayers and partnership.

PRAYER FOR OUR NATION AND WORLDWIDE: Let’s continue to pray for our nation of Canada. Our country needs God! We pray that God will heal our land and our world! May there be unity, love, compassion and respect for one another as all of us journey life together. It will be worth it all when we see Jesus!

HURRICANE LAURA: Please pray for the hundreds of thousands of people impacted by Hurricane Laura in the United States. Pray for comfort and peace, and that food, water, and aid supplies will get to where they are needed, and that power will be restored. Pray that those who need medical attention will receive it quickly, and for strength and wisdom for all of the first responders. Pray also for wisdom for government authorities in responding to people’s needs, and that many people will have opportunities to hear and receive the gospel.

WORLDWIDE: Please continue to pray for God’s intervention in the spread of the coronavirus, which has infected more than 25,085,685, and killed nearly 843,930 people around the world. Pray for healing for those stricken with COVID-19, and comfort for those whose loved ones have passed away. May God continually strengthen and protect frontline and essential workers. Pray that, as many countries are easing some restrictions, their economies will respond well, and there will not be a second wave of the virus. Pray for protection and provision for people in developing countries who are malnourished and more vulnerable to this disease. Pray also for PAOC global workers who are remaining in the countries where they have been called to minister, and who are continuing to serve their communities with excellence during this global pandemic.   Our prayer for you continues this week and it is described in these Scriptures: “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7) and “The God of peace be with you all.” (Romans 15:33).   Stay close to God!
