January 9, 2021

Hello Dear Friends,

Warmest Christian greetings!

PRAYER FOR YOU – The prayer for our Evangel Temple church family this week is taken from I Thessalonians 5: 6 – 11: “…let us be awake and sober…putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet…encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact your are doing.” A great prayer indeed! Consistently giving ourselves to these principles will strengthen us personally and relationally. Our world is in a colossal mess and no amount of politics, ideology or philosophy can make a lasting change…only Jesus can do that! Let’s continue to be “salt and light”! We can make a difference in our sphere of influence and beyond as we do our part in sharing the love of Jesus to a broken world! We pray for His “kingdom (to) come.”

SUNDAY SERVICE/ONLINE CHURCH – Each Sunday @ 10:00 a.m. is the day and the hour when online church begins on YouTube. We anticipate being back in the church facility on Sunday, January 24, 2021. We pray the restrictions will not be extended beyond then for places of worship. We will keep you posted for sure! Please plan to join us each week online should you have the electronic capability to do so. Here is the link: www.evangelnapanee.com

2020 CONTRIBUTION RECEIPTS & 2021 ENVELOPES – Please note that the 2020 contribution receipts are now available. If you happen to be dropping by the church building on Tuesday or Thursday morning between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon, you may pick up your receipt. Otherwise, it will be sent via regular mail to your home address. Most of the contribution envelopes for 2021 are already picked up. Thank you for doing so.

PASTORAL SEARCH – The next meeting is set for Wednesday, February 3, 2021 @ 6:30 p.m. with the Committee. Resumes will be distributed and prayerfully/carefully reviewed. A subsequent meeting is planned for Monday, February 8, 2021. In this meeting the resumes will be discussed more thoroughly and decisions will be made to move into the interview phase. We will certainly keep you posted along the way. Your prayers are critical during this time and we are counting on you to pray daily! Thank you for doing this. It is reasonable that the new Lead Pastor should be in place by mid to late March 2021.

BIBLE READING – We hope your daily Bible reading is bringing much comfort to you. By now you are moving nicely through John’s Gospel. This is a 21-day read so let’s add the 10 chapters of I and II Timothy to make up the 31 days! I pray these Scripture readings are ministering strength to you each day. Here’s that verse of Scripture again: “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom…” (Colossians 3:16).

ADMINISTRATION & OTHER MINISTRY

OFFICE HOURS – The office hours are reduced during the present lockdown but you can drop by either Tuesday or Thursday – 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon. Thank you for your patience and cooperation. Should you need anything specifically, please contact me directly through email or cell phone (contact info is on our weekly emails).

The SPECIAL CONGREGATIONAL MEETING scheduled for Sunday, January 17, 2021 to adopt the amended Local Church Constitution will be postponed. There will be a further update in a few days as to the res-scheduling of this meeting.

CHURCH BOARD MEETING – A Church Board meeting will be held on Monday, January 11, 2021 @ 6:30 p.m. Some of the items of discussion will be the Annual General Meeting, on-going maintenance, church ministries, etc. Thank you for praying for your Church Board as they constantly pray for you.

Other business items remain on hold until a later date.

RENOVATIONS/UPGRADES/NEW CHAIRS In a week or so electrical and drywall work will commence in the overflow sections. This will be a huge upgrade and will look amazing! We are considering painting the ceiling and walls in the sanctuary. All of these areas need a ”fresh” look and your Church Board is wisely focusing on the priorities as it relates to the renovations. Of course, this all costs money!!! Please be assured that your Church Board will carefully and wisely manage our navigation through this work. ALL work so far has been completely paid!!!

Some of you have already joined with June and me in providing a new chair re your generous donation of $100.00. Thank you so much for that extra offering! Should you wish to add the extra to your weekly giving, simply mark your envelope accordingly re “New Chairs/Upgrades”. This is a great blessing.

One of the blessings of doing this material/renovation work will allow the new Lead Pastor to devote time to ministry without having to consider major building needs.

2020 FINANCIAL STATEMENTS, 2021 BUDGET & ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING – The 2020 financial review engagement will be conducted over the next few weeks. This, plus the 2021 budget, will be presented to you in due time. The Annual General Meeting will be announced at a later date. 2021 will bring new pastoral staff and the operational/ministry at Evangel will be at “full steam”! I am praying that there will be more than enough financial resources…not simply making ends meet but “…immeasurably more than we could ask or imagine…”! (Ephesians 3:20). Thank you for praying with me!

YOUR 2020 DONATIONS & CURRENT GIVING

A letter has been included with your charitable receipt. It gives a little overview of our 2020 financial position and we have much for which to thank God…and you!!!

Since we are currently in lockdown until at least January 23, 2021, your faithfulness is so very deeply appreciated in consistent giving. You may come by the church and use the offering boxes or debit machine They are accessible during the time frames noted above.

Online giving is very convenient and we encourage you to consider this option should you have the electronic capability.

VERY IMPORTANT!!! WE ARE INCLUDING THIS ANNOUNCEMENT AGAIN THIS WEEK!!! If you come by the church and use the debit machine, please ensure that you complete an envelope and place one copy of your transaction in it. If an envelope is not completed there is no way to give you credit for your donation. As you know, an electronic transfer is not the same as a debit transaction. An electronic transfer is easily recognized with the necessary personal information whereas a debit machine transaction cannot be traced to an individual. Thank you for giving this your attention. We want to serve you as best we can but it is imperative that we have tithe/offering donations clearly identified. This makes our auditors happy, too!!

EVANGEL TEMPLE CHURCH FAMILY – May I encourage you to be sensitive to the Lord’s leading in reaching out to others in our church family? Perhaps you can call a person or two and share some words of encouragement with a prayer. Just a simple phone conversation/visit will go a long way in making someone’s day very special! The prayer above from I Thessalonians 5 admonishes us to do that. If you can’t reach the person, leave a message or write a card and put it in the mail. This will mean a great deal to any individual or family! Of course, we can go beyond our immediate church family and reach out to others to whom the Lord may direct us. If you are already doing this, thank you so much! If not, now would be a good time to start!

EVANGEL’S MISSIONARIES/GLOBAL WORKERS GWs

Your prayers for our GWs are critical. Some of them are experiencing very challenging times with the reality of reduced financial support re COVID- 19.Thank you for taking the time to include them in your daily prayer times and for your faithful giving. Evangel has not had to cut back on financial support of our Missionaries and, for that, we are truly grateful to the Lord and to you! This is faithfulness in action! Please continue to remember Travis & Jesse (RAN), Dan & Belinda Collado (ABA, Canada), Jarren & Cindie Hildebrandt (Thailand), Kingston Pregnancy Care Centre (Elizabeth Sacrey), Julia Mills Scott & Melissa Williams (Spain), Janette Tirado (Peru), Laura Benson (Uganda), Deborah Sirjoosingh (Kenya), Cal & June Anthony (Eurasia), Raul & Lily Carrasco (Spain) and Morning Star Mission. Everyone needs prayer and everyone deeply appreciates it!

During 2021 let us continue to be sensitive to the many needs locally, nationally and globally. Perhaps all of us can increase our financial giving to Missions and outreach in the days ahead!

We continue to pray the same prayers for you this week as described above and in these Scriptures: “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7) and “The God of peace be with you all.” (Romans 15:33).

Stay close to God and keep the faith!

Cal & June
